CNC Machinist

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Programs, performs setup, and runs difficult prototype and production jobs using both conventional and CNC mills and lathes.
• Plans sequence of machine operations using digital engineering models, drawings, sketches, or other written or verbal instructions.
• Assists with the development of concepts, ideas, and methods for solving milling/turning machining problems.
• Reviews and interprets job requests including drawings and service requests. Orders and expedites materials and cutting tools as needed.
• Utilizes and interprets engineering drawings from sketches, graphic illustrations, or verbal/written correspondence to plan the sequence of operations.
• Determines cutting tools to be used, method of holding, and machine speeds and feeds. Assists others with job layout.
• Designs and fabricates tooling aids to assist in machine setups utilizing various shop equipment.
• Ensures that preventive maintenance is being performed.
• Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Ensures 5S and Lean in the shop
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Competency Requirements:

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

3 + years’ experience in CNC operation (Machining and turning)

A diploma or technologist certificate in CNC, Mechanical or tool and die

Strong strategic skills combined with the ability to be “hands-on” when required

Analytical skills appropriate for effective and proactive management of operational metrics

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of conventional machine is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 22$-27$ per hour
