We are seeking a skilled Senior CAD Technician / Designer with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems and architectural design for water fountain design. The Senior CAD Technician will play a vital role in developing accurate and precise technical drawings and plans, focusing on MEP and detailed design elements related to water fountains using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. Collaboration with BIM specialists, architects, landscape architects, and engineers is essential, and familiarity with AIA and RIBA standards is a must.

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Collaborate closely with landscape architects, architects, BIM specialists, and MEP engineers to create detailed MEP & integrated architectural detail drawings for water features, encompassing electrical connections, plumbing layouts, architectural finishes and mechanical specifications.
  • Work closely with the BIM specialist to integrate MEP and architectural details into the BIM model and ensure proper coordination with other engineering disciplines and design professionals.
  • Utilize CAD software to produce accurate and well-organized MEP drawings, incorporating design elements, MEP requirements, and project specifications.
  • Develop 2D and 3D representations of MEP elements related to water features designs to effectively communicate design intent and functionality to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Incorporate design modifications and updates into existing CAD drawings, ensuring accuracy and alignment with MEP and project requirements.
  • Conduct MEP analysis and gather data to inform the drafting process, including electrical power requirements, plumbing connections, and mechanical components.
  • Maintain an organized CAD library and CAD standard for all MEP and architectural details, blocks, and templates specific to water fountain design to facilitate efficient drawing production.
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure MEP and architectural drawings comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, AIA, and RIBA standards, industry best practices and US National CAD Standards.
  • Assist in creating check sets and managing the revisions for all MEP and architectural drawings, ensuring adherence to quality, design and industry CAD standards.
  • Meet key deadlines and drawing submission dates. (May require some over time)

 

**Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements:**

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in landscape architecture, architecture, MEP engineering, or related field. Or 10 years of experience with in a design studio as a lead Autocad Technician
  • Proven experience in landscape architectural design with a strong focus on architecture and MEP elements, preferably in water fountain design, using AutoCAD 2018 software or newer
  • Strong understanding of landscape architecture principles, MEP systems related to water features, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in creating 2D and 3D renderings and visualizations of MEP elements, using CAD and design software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in producing MEP and architectural-related design  drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  • Autolisp and or C++ programming capabilities are desired.
  • Familiarity with AIA and RIBA standards and sustainable design practices is a must.
  • An appreciation of landscape architectural design is a valued asset.
